Recap of Previous Chapters

The previous two articles elaborated sequentially on why HNBR has expanded its application scope from sealing ring material to a critical component in lithium battery formulations, as well as its typical application scenarios and industrialization timeline in cathode bonding, conductive agent dispersion and next-generation battery systems. This chapter focuses on the technical routes and product progress of HNBR developed by Chambroad Sinopoly. If you pay more attention to practical industrial applications, we recommend you focus on our two core R&D directions for lithium batteries: cathode binders and CNT dispersants.

3. What Kind of HNBR Products Do We Develop?

Our layout of HNBR is not a temporary venture. Instead, we have adopted a distinctive technical route from the very beginning of R&D.

Supported by the joint research project "Development of Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber via Chambroad  Emulsion Hydrogenation" launched by Chambroad and Qingdao University of Science and Technology, we have broken through the 40-year technical bottleneck of the traditional solution hydrogenation process. Our technology realizes direct hydrogenation of nitrile butadiene rubber latex without organic solvents throughout the whole process. The pilot plant has maintained stable operation, and product quality meets design expectations.

This technical route boasts three outstanding advantages perfectly suited for lithium battery applications:

· Greener production: The latex-based process eliminates organic solvents, facilitating environmental compliance and ESG requirements for new energy and energy storage industries in the long run.

· Highly customizable: By adjusting latex formulas and hydrogenation degrees, we can precisely tune parameters including ACN content, molecular weight and polarity to develop customized grades for cathode bonding, CNT dispersion and high-temperature sealing to meet diverse client demands.

· Easy scale-up: The latex process is highly compatible with our existing rubber polymerization and post-processing infrastructure, enabling smooth transfer of pilot-scale experience to thousand-ton production facilities.

At present, we have completed systematic comparative tests between our HNBR grades including HNBR3308 and HNBR3318 and mainstream international HNBR products in terms of mechanical properties and aging resistance. Test results show that:

· Our mechanical properties are comparable to international competing products

· Long-term aging resistance outperforms some imported alternatives

In terms of end applications, in line with the public product roadmap released by Chambroad  Holdings, Chambroad Sinopoly HNBR targets automotive, oilfield, lithium battery, aerospace and military industries, with core focus on lithium battery segments as follows:

· Cathode binders / co-binders

· Dispersants for CNT slurries

Simply put:

We do not merely supply rubber raw materials. Instead, we aim to deliver a complete material solution tailored for lithium electrode design based on HNBR.

VI. Concluding Remarks

The development story of HNBR is far from over.

Within the fast-growing lithium battery industry, HNBR is quietly transforming from a conventional sealing material to an underlying core material for new energy.

For formulation engineers, it delivers the following benefits:

· A wider processing window for slurry coating

· Stable performance under high temperatures and extended service cycles

· Greater potential to achieve higher energy density

For the entire industry, HNBR serves as one of the invisible infrastructure materials that guarantee battery safety and performance.

For Chambroad Sinopoly, HNBR is not a short-term trend-chasing project, but a long-term strategic track:

From fundamental polymerization to process scaling, from pilot test facilities to mass production lines, we intend to prove through long-term research and industrial practice that this premium high-performance material deserves wider recognition.

If you are troubled by the following challenges:

· Excessively high viscosity and narrow coating window for high-solid-content CNT slurries?

· Active material shedding, cracking and cell bulging under high-temperature storage?

· A lack of reliable partners to conduct joint trials for innovative binder and dispersion systems?

Feel free to follow and contact Chambroad Sinopoly.

We operate a special rubber manufacturing plant located in Boxing, Shandong, an innovation hub integrating the production of HNBR, butyl rubber, bio-based rubber and other elastomers.

We are ready to cooperate with you, starting from slurry formulation and production line verification,

to turn material innovation concepts into mass-produced electrode sheets with superior stability and efficiency.

"A promising future" is more than just a slogan for us,

It is tangible progress reflected in every kilowatt-hour of electricity, every kilometer of travel and every set of test data.
